NK Chairman Mr. Ueda inspected on experiment sail of Wind Challenger.
On January end 2014, Mr. Ueda did attend on experiment sail of Wind Challenger under measuring.
The said researches is being conducted under researches support for a scheme of NK’s title
” The collaborated researches demanded by relevant industries.”
Mr. Ueda attentively pointed a question about mechanism and details about experimental inspection of
the sail and he took around inside of slewing machine room.
Wind Challenger New type hard sail commenced actual land experiment
On January 25, 2014 actual hard sail observation and press conference was made at Iknow
Machinery Company Ltd.
Major attendee on above observation was as follows;
THE UNIVERSITY OF TOKYO, NYK LINE, MITSUI O.S.K. LINES, OSHIMA SHIPBUILDING, TADANO,
NHK NAGSAKI BRANCH SASEBO OFFICE, THE ASAHI SHIMBUN SASEBO BRANCH,
THE YOMIURI SHIMBUN WESTERN BRANCH SASEBO OFFIC, THE MAINICHI SHIMBUN SASEBO BRANCH,
CHUGAKUSEI WEEKLY EDITORIAL DEPARTMENT OF THE ASAHIGAKUSEISHIMBUNSHA ,
THE NAGASAKI SHIMBUN SAIKAI BRANCH, KYODO NEWS NAGASAKI BRABCH SASEBO OFFICE,
NIKKAN KOGYO SHIMBUN WESTERN BRANCH,
And, there were major attendee from shipping companies and relevant industries participated on the
press conference at Ainoura district, of which scenery was reported on various press company and
TV news editions.
From now on, a performance experiment using actual hard sail is expected at Iknow Machinery Co.,
Ltd. until this September.
The project of Wind Challenger is financially supported for researches of Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK) Class.

SHIP OF THE YEAR 2012 are subscribed for total eight(8) ships entries, such as 3 x large size
Cargo ship, 1 x small size Cargo ship, 2 x small size passenger ship, 1 x fishery and work ship,
and 1 x specific ship.
The prize of SHIP OF THE YEAR 2012 goes to only one ship as selected on examination of
originality and innovation of technique, completeness of technique and works, influence to the
society, subjectiveness and appearing factor ( referred from HP of the Japan Shipbuilding Marine

Under a clear blue sky “Satsuki Bare” on Monday afternoon, June 10th, 2013,
Mr. Thomas H. Blenk, Vice President Northern Region of ABS Pacific Division,
Mr. Akira Akiyama, Vice President-Japan and Mr. Hitoshi Matsumoto, Country Manager-Japan took a tour of IKNOW MACHINERY factory.
Though it was only a short tour, but they looked around the Gantry crane, Hatch cover, etc. under currently being manufactured IKNOW MACHINERY products.
