Wind Challenger

Wind Challenger  Project.

Aiming for a hybrid ship!

This is an industry-academia joint research project centered on the University of Tokyo, aiming to change from a fossil fuel ship to a wind propulsion ship.

Install telescopic hard wing sails on large cargo ships.

Will can expect a fuel reduction effect of up to 50% or more.

In the case of an 80,000-ton class cargo ship, four sails with a height of 50M and a width of 20M will be installed.

The sail can be expanded and contracted to a height of one-fifth in strong winds.

The sail can be expanded and contracted up and down or the angle can be changed according to the wind direction and speed to obtain greater propulsion.
